Perfect Fit, South West London

The “Perfect Fit, South West London” scheme was launched in August 2009. This is an Under Occupation Scheme for RSL residents within the sub region and is managed by Gayle Mansfield. There are 10 participating RSL’s, and all 7 boroughs are in support of the scheme. The scheme is funded by the RSL’s and SWLHP.

Gayle holds a database of RSL Under Occupiers wishing to move to smaller properties across the sub region. Participating RSL’s contribute desirable 1 and 2 bed properties to the scheme and Gayle then matches Under Occupiers to the properties and co-ordinates all aspects of their move. The properties that the Under Occupiers vacate are then used by the RSL to re-house one of their overcrowded families. There is a target of 35 moves to be achieved in the first year of the scheme.

The scheme is an integral part of the general work being done in the sub region to tackle overcrowding.

Sub-regional Housing Market Assessment

The South West London Housing Partnership (SWLHP) recently commissioned ECOTEC Research and Consulting to carry out a Sub-regional Housing Market Assessment (Sub-regional HMA).

The Sub-regional HMA will identify current and future housing markets and assess housing need within south west London. It will provide robust evidence to inform housing and planning policy for the sub-region.

SWLHP held two stakeholders events in September 2009. Both events provided valuable feedback on the housing markets operating in SW London. A summary of the events can be found by clicking here.

Overcrowding Project

The sub-region currently has a special project to look at and work on over-crowding in affordable housing in SW London. We have a project Manager Gayle Mansfield. The work that she is doing and the most recent update on the project is available below.
